ADS9219EVM: and TSWDC155EVM power up

Part Number: ADS9219EVM
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: TSWDC155EVM, ADS9219

Tool/software:

I recently purchased a ADS9219EVM and TSWDC155EVM.

After connecting the TSWDC155EVM to +5V and USB and starting up the GUI only LEDs D16, D17, and D20 turn on.

All the LEDs associated with the various lower voltages do not turn on.

I followed the instructions in "User's Guide TSWDC155EVM" (SLAU870 - March 2022), where in section 5.1 EVM Powerup, it states that 8 LEDs should start glowing.

Note that the pictures of the EVM in these instructions do not match my module (see attached image).

I assume the other errors I get through the GUI are related to the apparent power on problem, missing low voltages: 2.5V, 1.8V, 1.35V, 1.2V (no LEDs on and the measure zero on test points).

I have also attached the GUI log.

Does anyone have ideas regarding bringing up this eval system?

Sven.

  • Hello Sven,

Yes, I apologize for the inconsistency of the images to the controller board, the TSWDC155EVM has been updated but the pictures in the document have yet to update with it.

Just to make sure, have you followed the step through in the ADS9219EVM User's Guide? On Section 3.2.2 it covers some USB Driver updates that are also needed but not covered in the TSWDC155EVM Guide.

Another thing I noticed from your image is that you have both the external power supply (barrel connector on J13) as well as cables on J10, if you are planning to use the external supply for this board please select just one of those two. If this is for measurement purposes please disregard. I will also note that for the ADS9219EVM the controller board can provide sufficient power with the USB-C not to require the external supplies.  Please make sure that J2 (next to those external connectors) is set accordingly as well. The picture looks like it is with the external supplies. so that should be good if you are planning to use the external supplies.

Please let me know if the updating/installing the USB drivers helps, we can continue debugging otherwise.

    Best regards,

    Yolanda
