ADS127L18: ADS127L18

Part Number: ADS127L18

Tool/software:

Hello

Section 7.4.10.1 of the datasheet says:

In hardware control mode, there is no access to the STATUS register, therefore an
error is only caused by the ADC_ERR bit. Reset or power-cycle the ADC to clear an ADC_ERR.

Does the ADS127L18 keep working if /ERROR is asserted?

Or no I NEED to Reset of Power cycle the device to get it working again after a /ERROR went LO?

  • Hello Ton,

The ADS127L18 will keep working if the ADC_ERR flag is set.   However, if this flag is set, then you will want to reset or power-cycle to ensure correct operation.  If this flag is set, then many of the datasheet specifications could be off by quite a bit.  This flag would only be set if there was a large transient that caused the internal configuration registers to become corrupt.

The part will still function with the flag set, but I would not trust the accuracy of any conversion results in this case.
