Tool/software:

Dear experts,

I want to design a three-phase LLC DCX converter with an input voltage of 400V, an output voltage of 48V, and an operating frequency of 150kHz. The operating frequency is fixed. Here are my questions:

  1. Does TI have a control solution for primary and secondary side synchronous rectification switches?
  2. If using digital control, does TI have a recommended DSP model, and is there any introduction to the control of primary and secondary switches?
  3. If the secondary side does not use diodes but uses synchronous rectification switches, how should the secondary side switch signals be controlled?
  4. What are the common control methods for secondary side synchronous rectification switches?
  • Hello,

Your inquiry is under review and I will get back to you shortly.

  • Hello,

    Please see my comments below.

    1. Does TI have a control solution for primary and secondary side synchronous rectification switches?
      1. TI does not have an analog controller with controls for secondary side synchronous rectifiers.  However, you can use the UCC25660x LLC control which has primary side FET drivers built in.  For the synchronous rectifiers you can use them to drive the SRs on the secondary side with the UCC24624.
    2. If using digital control, does TI have a recommended DSP model, and is there any introduction to the control of primary and secondary switches?
      1. For digital power supply control you can use the UCD3138 or the C2000 digital power supply controllers.
      2. If you have question on how to use these controllers in an LLC application please repost in the e2e with the part numbers in the thread title so the appropriate applications engineer can answer your questions.
    3. If the secondary side does not use diodes but uses synchronous rectification switches, how should the secondary side switch signals be controlled?
      1. If you are using the UCC25660x controllers you can use the UCC24624 to driver the SRs on the secondary.

      3. Application showing how to use the UCC24624 in an LLC application can be found at the following link. https://www.ti.com/lit/ug/sluuc46/sluuc46.pdf
    4. What are the common control methods for secondary side synchronous rectification switches?
      1. For analog LLC controllers the UCC24624.
      2. They could work with digital power supply controllers because they turn-on and off the gate driver voltage based on Vds voltage and do not require direct control from the power supply controller.
