ADC104S021: Cable capacitance for SPI interface

Part Number: ADC104S021
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: ADC128S102

Tool/software:

I am asking question on what the recommended cable capacitance on SPI interface to this component is. This component is connected via 3m cable and what is maximum allowed capacitance on SPI bus? Not clear reading through SPI specification what is recommended. We will run the SPI @1MHz.adc104s021.pdf

  • Hi Ganesan,

Apologies for the late response. Unfortunately there are no recommended cable specifications I could find, but at 1MHz SCLK and 3 meters, I don't expect there to be any massive issues with excessive signal rise and fall time, and there likely would still be overshoot due to the parasitic capacitance and inductance of the cable. These rise times can be reduced with a small value series resistor (something like 22Ω).

The IBIS model for the ADC128S102 can be used for signal integrity purposes for this device if necessary.
