TVP7002 component input problem

Other Parts Discussed in Thread: TVP7002, THS7353

Hi All:

We are making our own dm365/dm368 board, which has s-vedio, composite, component & VGA input,  all those 4 inputs are working, but we find that there is a problem with the component input, the component input is connecting to TVP7002. When capturing the video, some area of the video is masked with the blue color. pls check the image attached. but this won't happen for VGA input, which is also connecting to TVP7002.

Schematic for component-in and TVP7002 are also attached, does anybody know what is cause for the problem?

          Thanks in advance.

  • Patrick,

Is your platform output displaying analog component or HDMI?

Other than the streaking, do the colors look correct?

For YPbPr inputs, the TVP7002 fine clamp settings must be set for bottom- level for Y input and mid-level for PbPr inputs.  I would also compare your clamp placement settings to those recommended in the datasheet.

  • Hi Larry:

We figured out what the problem is, it is due to the wrong setting of the LUMA_CHANNEL. In our designed, the CH1OUT of THS7353 is connecting to GIN1 of TVP7002, which is different from DM365, the LUMA_CHANNEL in kernel config is set to 1 by default, after change to 2, the problem is fixed.

                 Thx for your time!

  • Hi Doron:

You can refer to my post for setting the reg of TVP7002, it is for XGA@60Hz

                    http://e2e.ti.com/support/data_converters/videoconverters/f/376/t/146800.aspx

I am suggesting that you should start with VGA 1280x720@60Hz, which should has a similar configurations as the component 720P, and check for the file driver/media/video/tvp7002.c, modify the setting for tvp7002, which should be under the function tvp7002_initialize().

Once the 1280x720@60Hz is done, you can add XGA@60Hz, and then you need to modify the dvsdk dmai and drivers in your kernel in order to enable the VGA input.
