ADS data varying

Other Parts Discussed in Thread: ADS1230

Sir,

I'm using ADS1230 in load cell weighing application using P18f452.That was working perfectly, but now the data is continuously varying.I've set the zero at 524288.For PWDN pin I'm using RC circuit (10k,100nF) .For AVDD and DVDD I'm using ADP33303AR-5 IC with associted circuitry.Could you please tell me what would be the reason for that continuous variation.

  • Sherin,

Welcome to the forum!.  So what changed from when you say the application was working perfectly to the current situation?  Can you provide some more information as to the voltages you are using (primarily the reference and excitation voltages)?  A schematic would help.  The specifications of the load cell would be helpful as well.  How many code variations are you seeing?  Is this with weight applied or no weight?  It seems to me that your zero code is very high, so how do you have your load cell connected to the inputs?  You need to make sure that the ADC inputs are within the common mode input range of the ADS1230, which is 1.5V from the rails.  So you will have issues if you try to connect the inputs too close to AVDD or GND.

There will be code variation due to noise.  One way of reducing the effect of noise is making sure that the excitation and voltage reference sources are the same.

    Best regards,
