ADS54J54: IN Absolute Max

Part Number: ADS54J54

Tool/software:

Hello,

the ADS54J54 absolute max on IN pins (INA_N, INA_P...) is given for 3V.

Is this from measured from IN pin to GND and do we have to take into acount the 2V internal bias in this absolute max?

Does this mean that if we have a 2Vpp signal coming between INA_P and INA_N, the INA_P pin voltage will be VCM + Vpp/2 = 3V which is the absolute max ?

Regards,

  • Hi,

The differential full scale for this device is 1.5Vpp, meaning each leg is swinging 750mVpp out of phase with respect to each other. This means at full scale of the device, each leg will swing between Vcm +/- 375mV. Or between 1.625V and 2.375V if Vcm=2V.

If you apply a 3Vpp differential signal, then each leg swings 1.5Vpp, Vcm +/- 750mV. If Vcm is 2.18V (as typical for this device), you’re getting close to the absolute max. The input would see voltages up to 2.93V. It’s best to stay below 1.5Vpp.
