DAC61404: schematic design

Part Number: DAC61404

Tool/software:

Hello,

1) for AVDD and AVSS setting, if target vout is 0~5V, can it be set AVDD = 5V, AVSS = GND;  but I observed the headroom and footroom in datasheet, I am not sure if need bipolar power supply for it.

2) If I set AVDD = 16V and, AVSS = GND,  should this device be survive if Vout short to 16V or GND?

3) For SensePD and SenseND pin, if I don't need it, should I connect SensePD to Vout, and SenseND to GND?

4) What's the capactor value should be used for CCOMPX to VOUTX?

5) For reset pin, should I just pull up by 10k to IOVDD? I don't want to control it.

6) Can I connect 100nF at vout for ESD protection?

  • Hi Liping,

Please check below my inline responses for each of the query -

    1) for AVDD and AVSS setting, if target vout is 0~5V, can it be set AVDD = 5V, AVSS = GND;  but I observed the headroom and footroom in datasheet, I am not sure if need bipolar power supply for it.
[Sanjay]: for 0V- 5V output, you need to have power AVDD() >= +5V + 1.25V (headroom) and AVSS <= 0V - 1.25 (footroom). Please check the data sheet Figure 7-31. Headroom and Footroom from Supply vs Output Current for more details

    2) If I set AVDD = 16V and, AVSS = GND,  should this device be survive if Vout short to 16V or GND?
[Sanjay]: yes, this device have a short circuit protection.

    3) For SensePD and SenseND pin, if I don't need it, should I connect SensePD to Vout, and SenseND to GND?
    [Sanjay]: Yes, this is okay.

    4) What's the capacitor value should be used for CCOMPX to VOUTX?
[Sanjay]: It depends on your vout load capacitor requirements, we support 1uF for CCOMPx = 470pF

    5) For reset pin, should I just pull up by 10k to IOVDD? I don't want to control it.
    [Sanjay]: This is okay.

    6) Can I connect 100nF at vout for ESD protection?
[Sanjay]: Each pin of this device has ESD protection, no need to put extra capacitor for this. See the details below-

    Thanks,
    Sanjay
