ADC3910D125EVM: Capabilities

Part Number: ADC3910D125EVM
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: FMC-ADC-ADAPTER

Tool/software:

Hello E2E Experts,

Good day.

I want to purchase ADC3910125EVM boards for an upcoming project. However, we want to interface them with our own FPGA boards. I wanted to ask whether the FMC connector is compatible with platforms like the AMD/Xilinx ZCU104? Also, can the board be used without the FTDI board, for example, using the FPGA's GPIO to control the SPI interface via existing header pins on this eval board.

Lastly, I also wanted to ask if the board will be compatible with Zynq 7000 series like the ZedBoard; since the TSW data capture board was built with the similar Artix 7.

  • Hi,

Please consult the attached schematic to verify that the FMC pinout will work with your preferred dev kit.  The SPI can be routed from the FMC and that can be verified in the schematic as well.ADC3910D125_RevE2(001)_Sch_2024-04-08.PDF

  • Hello Geoff,

    Good day.

It looks like both boards are incompatible with each other.

I am looking at  FMC-ADC-ADAPTER, however, ADC3910D125EVM does not seem to be supported by this adapter. The ADC itself output only at LVCMOS, and missing the LVDS output port. The other ADCs supported by this adapter’s timing settings are not available through the SPI interface by accessing the registers, which is a crucial feature we need.

    Questions:

    1. Is there a LVCMOS board adapter?

    2. Also, if we were gonna design our own board, which TI's clocking IC would you recommend turning a sine wave into the LVCMOS square wave that ADC3910D requires?

    Regards,

    TICSC

  • 1) There is not an adapter for this

    2) You will need to reach out to the clocking team to find a par for this
