ADS9219: Initialization Sequence and Normal Operation Mode | Run ADC in default configuration

Part Number: ADS9219
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: ADS9227, ADS9218

Tool/software:

Hello,

I will design a new application for the ADS9219 and for me it is not clear if I need to run the initialization sequence after power up or not? Even if I want to operate with the default register settings. The data sheet shows me two answer but the implementation effort is different especially on a FPGA.

Attached the screen shots from the datasheet.

Do I need to implement and run the initialization after each power up or reset?

Thanks for your response. Regards -- Christof

  • Hello Christof,

Welcome to TI's E2E Forum and thank you for your question about the ADS9219!

This device family is in the process of being fully released, and during this period any preliminary/preview devices (devices obtain before full release to market) require this Initiation Sequence for proper functionality. Some devices from this family, like the ADS9218 and ADS9227, have been fully released for some time and they no longer require the sequence and Normal Operation should be as stated in section 6.4.3 as shared.

For now, yes, the Initiation Sequence needs to be implemented after every Power Up/Reset. But the ADS9219 should be fully released soon, and for devices obtained after that, those steps should not be required (the datasheet will be updated accordingly as well).

    Best regards,

    Yolanda

  • Hello Yolanda,

thanks for your response. That will help me and good to know.
