ADC12DJ3200: NCO Phase Synchronization

Tool/software:

I need to phase synchronize the NCOs across a number of ADC12DJ3200 devices.

The data sheet (section 7.3.5.1.6) says that a single SYSREF pulse is used for phase synchronization for a DC-coupled SYSREF.

I am already using multiple SYSREF pulses (nominally 8 pulses) for frame synchronization.

Can I use the same multiple pulses to phase-synchronize the NCOs?

Yes, please see section 7.3.7.1.6 NCO Phase Synchronization of the datasheet.

HI Rob,

I'm actually using the ADC12DJ3200QML-SP component, which says to use 1 SYSREF pulse (section 7.3.5.1.6).

Is there a difference between the 2 devices, or is it just a data-sheet issue?

Hi Michael,

The ADC12DJ3200QML-SP is the same device, just a different package.

Are you AC coupled or DC coupled to the sysref pins?

Typically if you are AC coupled you would use multiple pulses.

If DC coupled, one pulse should be suffice.

Hi Rob,

Thanks for your prompt response.

We are DC coupled, and are using 8 SYSREF pulses to align the multi-frames between 10 ADCs.

I was concerned in case we had to use 1 SYSREF pulse for phase synchronization, and 8 SYSREF pulses for frame alignment.
