ADS7054: Decoupling AVDD pin with 3.3uF Tantalum instead of Ceramic

Dear Support,

The datasheet for the ADS7054 recommends using 3.3uF capacitors for AVDD decoupling (section "AVDD and DVDD Supply Recommendations").

However, such ceramic capacitors are not suitable for MTBF calculations due to their high CV product and poor lambda FIT.

Is it possible to use tantalum capacitors instead?

    Hi Clement,

    In theory, ceramic capacitors are preferred due to their lower ESR, and better ability to filter out high frequency noise in comparison to electrolytic capacitors. For this device however, I don't suspect there will be any issues or performance impact that arise from using a tantalum decoupling capacitor, assuming it has the proper max voltage rating.
