ADS7047: SPI Interface

Part Number: ADS7047

Tool/software:

Is there any guidance provided for interfacing SPI signals of the ADS7047 with an FPGA? If I run the clock at the maximum allowable frequency of 60 MHz, how can I design the interface to prevent ringing, reflections, or other signal integrity issues that might arise? Thank you for any references.

  • Hi John,

As general guidance, traces should be kept as short as possible, and as straight and direct as possible. Small value resistors near the driver, such as 22 ohms on all lines, help reduce signal overshoot and ringing. You may also want to route the SPI lines over a ground plane or pour, and keep the SPI lines separate from other switching signals to reduce crosstalk.

    Regards,
    Joel
