ADS9212: AVDD_1V8 and DVDD_1V8 Pins?

Part Number: ADS9212

Tool/software:

Hello,

In the datasheet for the ADS9212 (SBASAV2 - October 2024), Table 4-1 indicates that Pins 21, 22, 47, 48, and 49 are all VDD_1V8 pins, but calls out Pins 22, 47, and 48 as DVDD_1V8, suggesting:

DVDD_1V8: Pins 22, 47, 48

AVDD_1V8: Pins 21, 49

Meanwhile, Figure 8-4 indicates that:

DVDD_1V8: Pins 21, 22

AVDD_1V8: Pins 47, 48, 49

The EVM User Guide (SBAU456 - September 2024) suggests that Table 4-1 is correct, but the way the pins are oriented in the package makes Figure 8-4 seem more logical.

Which is correct? Thanks!

  • Hi Harley,

Thank you for your post. Apologies for the delay, I seem to have missed this post.

This confusion is an artifact of an update we made to the pin names that was missed from Table 4-1. All DVDD_1V8 pins were renamed VDD_1V8. Figure 4-1 shows the correct names.

All VDD_1V8 may be supplied from the same 1V8 supply, as shown in the EVM user's guide. Please follow the recommended decoupling.

May I ask what kind of application you are evaluating ADS9212 for?

    Best regards,

    Samiha

  • Thanks for the feedback, Samiha!

I wound up following the decoupling strategy shown in Figure 8-4, but using the pin numbers from Table 4-1 and the EVM such that pins 21 and 49 are analog 1.8V and pins 22, 47, and 48 are digital.

I misspoke in my original post, it seems to me that this DOES make more sense, although I would have expected pin 22 to also be analog which would make a clear boundary between analog and digital domains (Analog left of the line drawn through pins 49 and 22, and Digital to the right).

  • Hi Harley,

I'm glad to know your issue was resolved! I am happy to help review your completed schematic. I will reach out to you via email.

    Best regards,

    Samiha
