Hello guys,

One of my customers is considering using DAC63202 for power supply output voltage control.
And they are going to use figure 7-9 circuit on page 34 of the device datasheet.

At this moment, they have the following questions.
Could you please give me your reply?

Q1.
Could you please tell me how to calculate R1, R2 and Rs in figure 7-9 (High-Impedance (Hi-Z)
Output and PROTECT Input) for voltage output mode case and current output mode case?
If you have any calculator, could you please let me know?

Q2.
Which output mode, voltage output mode or current output mode of DAC63202 is better
to use figure 7-9 circuit?

Hi Nakai-san,

This article discusses how to calculate the resistor values:

Voltage Margining and Scaling Circuit with a Voltage Output Smart DAC (Rev. A)

I always recommend voltage mode. Current mode is always 8-bit, so the voltage mode will have higher resolution, and out voltage DAC has better accuracy overall. Application wise voltage mode requires a series resistor, but otherwise the two modes behave the same because our voltage output has the hi-z power down mode.
