ADS7142-Q1: Enable alarm function

Other Parts Discussed in Thread: ADS7142

Hi Support Team,

I'm experiencing difficulties using the ADS7142.

I'm only using one channel, AIN0 (AIN1 is connected to VSS), with AVDD = 1.8V.

Under these conditions, I can successfully read voltage changes from AIN0 externally. However, my final goal is to enable the ALERT function, so that when AIN0 is less than 0.01V or greater than 1.1V, the ALERT pin will be pulled low.

Currently, the ALERT pin is not responding. My configuration settings are shown in the table below (any register not mentioned is left at its default value).

Could you please help me identify what might be causing the issue?

  • Hello Application Team:

I follow up Sky question and we use "Autonomous Mode with Threshold Monitoring and Diagnostics " as target monitor AIN0 (AIN1 connect to GND)

we try to set AIN0 > 1.1V but #ALERT pin still not pull low. (keep pull high) , need your help give us set flow have any suggestions?

    thank you very much

    Roy

  • Hi Sky,

Apologies for the delayed response. There was an issue in assigning the thread. I have responded to Roy in another thread, so he should reach out to you with my full response. In short, it looks like bit 0 in the ALERT_CHEN register has not been enabled.

Please let me know if configuring this register helps fix the problem, and feel free to respond directly here or to Roy.

    Regards,
    Joel
