ADC14DS080: Looking for eval board for ADC14DS080

Part Number: ADC14DS080
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: WAVEVISION5, ADC3663, ADC3664

Tool/software:

Hello -

We are considering the ADC14DS080 for a new design, but would like to first experiment with an eval board. It does look like an eval board exists as it is described in this Users Guide on T.I.'s website - https://www.ti.com/lit/ug/snau098/snau098.pdf

Unfortunately, I cannot identify any orderable part number for this board or see any reference on the parts main page found here - https://www.ti.com/product/ADC14DS080

Can somebody please let me know how I can acquire this part's evaluation board, or provide the board's part number?

Thank you for your support.

  • Hi Kevin,

We do not have any of this board in our lab so I cannot even offer to send you one, which I would do if we had. Since both the ADC eval board and the Wavevision5 capture board are both obsoleted, there's unfortunately nothing we can provide for eval on this ADC. Is there any reason you are looking at an 18 year old ADC instead of one of our newer generation devices?

    Thanks, Chase

  • Thank you for the quick response. I am open to other ADC's which match the following:

    - Dual channel
    - 12 bit, minimum
    - 30MHz, minimum
    - LVDS outputs
    - 3.3V I/O

Can you suggest an equivalent, newer, part?

    Thank you for your support!

  • Kevin,

I don't think we have any newer device with 3.3V supply. The newer devices are all single 1.8V supply but very low power and much smaller in size. I think a much higher performance solution can be achieve for a similar overall PCB footprint even with adding a 3.3V to 1.8V LDO.

I would suggest ADC3664 (2-ch, 14-bit, 125MSPS max, Serial LVDS, 1.8V supply) or ADC3663 (2-ch, 16-bit, 65MSPS max, Serial LVDS, 1.8V supply). For either ADC, I would choose TPS7A9401 as the 3.3V to 1.8V LDO as it can be designed in a really compact footprint. What analog bandwidth do you need?

    Thanks
