ADS9212EVM: Quickest way to get data to UART

Part Number: ADS9212EVM
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: TSWDC155EVM, ADS9813, ADS9212

Tool/software:

Hello,

I've identified that this ADC should work for measuring load cells, I have software that reads in UART over USB, and am looking for help finding the best way to connect this ADC to the PC.

ADS9212EVM

This is for a one off test fixture.

Is there example code or another dev kit that would put this data onto USB?

Thanks in advance for help and sorry if I missed an obvious source of information.

  • Hi Rick,

Thanks for your post! Out of curiosity, do you need the full 8MSPS/CH sampling speed to measure your load cells? Are you only measuring two voltage signals? We do have a slower, higher channel count ADC: ADS9813 - 18-bit, 8CH, 2MSPS/CH ADC. There are also a lower cost 1MSPS/CH devices, ADS9811 and ADS9810. If you are designing a schematic, I can also help review it over email.

I'm not sure if I am understanding your question. The ADC itself does not have UART, it has a source synchronous interface that is usually interfaced with an FPGA. If needing to evaluate the ADS9212EVM, you can purchase the TSWDC155EVM controller card that interfaces with the ADC EVM. This will allow you to use our ADS9212EVM-GUI software on your PC. The only example code we have available is this FPGA Verilog example code for the variant device, ADS9813. The code can be modified for the ADS9212 device.

Let me know if you have any other questions.

    Best regards,

    Samiha
