ADS1282-SP: Reset to recover from SEFI

Part Number: ADS1282-SP

Tool/software:

Hello,

The radiation report shows that the ADC had SEFI under irradiation and it was necessary to reset it.

Did you reset it using the RESET pin or the serial communication link (or both) ?

Regards

Guillaume Bazin (electronic engineer)

  • Hello Guillaume,

I looked through all available data and notes (from 9 years ago) and could not find anything that specified if the ADC was RESET using SPI bus or the RESET pin.  However, the RESET pin was connected to the system controller during the SEFI tests, so it is very likely the RESET pin was used to reset the device.

  • Thank you for the response.

What would be the SEFI definition of the SEE test ? How the FPGA can detect the SEFI ?

    Regards

    Guillaume Bazin

  • Hello Guillaume,

Based on the original report data, it appears that the configuration registers were reset.  This would result in a sudden change in the reported conversion results (ADC would suddenly change from AIN2 (0.55V input) to AIN1 (2.05V) ), requiring a reset of the device, and reloading register settings to continue with the tests.

    Keith
