TXS0104E: It is an open drain, and the speed is different from the specification.

Part Number: TXS0104E

Tool/software:

I designed it by applying TXS0104E to UART communication. The UART speed is 460800 baud rate. In the output waveform in the attached figure, the 5V signal is output as 3.2V and is operating as open drain.

I have a question. First, on the datasheet, it is maximum data rates 2Mbps open drain, and all the waveforms are crushed. Why is that?
Second, the input is push pull, but the output is open drain. How do I get the push pull output waveform? I applied TXS0104E to use it for both spi and uart communication.

I'm sure you're busy, but please reply in detail.

  • Hi Jiyoun,

The max data rate of 2Mbps was determined with output external load of 15pF. To achieve higher speeds, please keep this to a minimum to ensure optimal signal integrity and the proper working of the one-shots. Can you provide schematic for further checks?

Please note that the device itself is supporting open drain and push pull drivers. By default, its output structure is open-drain with internal 10kohm pullups (one shot accelerator circuitry is also added to allow for faster transition times to bypass the 10kohm pullups).

    Regards,

    Jack
