ADS8638: AL_PD, REFGND Pin Confirmation

Part Number: ADS8638
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: ADS8634

Tool/software:

Hi Team,

We are using ADS8638 ADC need clarification on the below queries:

- As per datasheet ADS8634 AL_PD pin does have an internal weak pull-up, But for ADS8638 AL_PD pin no such information is available does that mean it doesn't have any internal pull-up?

- We want to configure the AL_PD pin as an output pin in this case do we need any pull-down resistor(10k) assuming a internal pull-up is present or should we leave it floating.

- We are using the internal ref voltage for sampling do I need to connect REFGND pin with AGND as per figure 73 REFGND pin is not connected to AGND directly.

  • Hi Shiba,

Welcome to our e2e forum!  The same weak pull-up is in the ADS8638 as well.  You do not need any pull-down on the AL-PD  pin to use it as an Alarm output, just connect it up to a GPIO on your controller.  REFGND needs to tie to AGND in all use cases.
