ADS8688: AVDD Power Supply design

Part Number: ADS8688
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: TPS62933,

Tool/software:

Hi,

I am using the ADS8688 ADC for my current project. The current design plan is to supply the AVDD and DVDD pins with +5V and +3.3V switching regulator(The regulators used is the TI's TPS62933). Will adding just the decoupling capacitors be enough to generate a quiet output voltage to the supply pins? Or is it necessary to add ferrite beads near each supply pins? Is the PSRR of the ADC sufficient enough to reject the switching noise from the regulators? Could you please recommend proper supply design for this particular ADC since accuracy is critical for this project.

Regards,

Aditya.

  • Hi Aditya,

I've not used the TPS62933 converters with the ADS8688, so I do not have any data to share with respect to ADC accuracy.  If you review section 9.2.2 of the ADS8688 datasheet though, we've provided a suggested power scheme using the TPS71501 as a means to power the ADC with the accuracy results  shown in Table 18 and Figure 98.
