DAC81408: Regarding the headroom of output characteristics

Part Number: DAC81408

Tool/software:

Hi team,

Regarding the output voltage headroom with the specifications below, is it correct to understand that if the current is around ±10mA, the output voltage range will narrow by at least 1V?

If you want to use the full set output voltage range, is it correct to understand that you need to input a Vcc with sufficient margin for the output voltage range?

Also, the output voltage range narrowed by the headroom only affects the upper voltage and does not impact the resolution, correct?

Best regards,

Kyohei

  • Hi Kyohei,

  • Hi Kyohei-san,

Please check my response below -

    >> Regarding the output voltage headroom with the specifications below, is it correct to understand that if the current is around ±10mA, the output voltage range will narrow by at least 1V?
[TI] - In a way  - yes, that's correct. For ±10mA load current, output voltage Vo will be ~ (VCC - 1V). But we measure this spec is by setting the VCC/VSS power supplies equal to |Vo(range)| ± 1V and measure the device specs i.e. - INL/DNL, EPE, etc.

    >> If you want to use the full set output voltage range, is it correct to understand that you need to input a Vcc with sufficient margin for the output voltage range?
    [TI] - Correct. For example - for ± 10V range, VCC/VSS should be ± 11V.

    >> Also, the output voltage range narrowed by the headroom only affects the upper voltage and does not impact the resolution, correct?
    [TI] - Correct

    Thanks,
    Sanjay
