ADS8686S: Regarding the MUX switching time and settling time of the MUX-integrated ADC

Hi team,

I believe the maximum sampling rate of this device is 1MSPS, but does this include the switching time and settling time of the built-in MUX?

Additionally, my customer is considering using this device with several power input ranges such as ±10V, ±5V, and 0-30V, varying by channel.

Will additional MUX switching time and settling time occur when the input voltage range changes?

Hi Kyohei,

Yes, the 1MSPS sample rate of the ADS8686S includes the mux switching, however Burst mode will limit this a bit (see section 7.4.2.6). The input range selection does not impact the mux switching characteristics. No additional settling time is needed.

When using burst mode, there are some limitations. How much does the sampling period extend? Is there any data on this?

Kyohei,

Please review the datasheet section 7.4.2.6, you can use equation 1 to estimate the time it takes to complete a burtst sequence.
