ADS8548: Conversion time

Part Number: ADS8548
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: ADS8684

Tool/software:

Hi team my customer wants to know how to calculate the conversion time since sampling the analog data and then output to MCU.
do u have any advise?

  • Hi Zoey,

Please review the datasheet starting with section 7.7 for the ADS8684.  Please also review section 7.9 and 7.10.  The conversion time is based off an internal oscillator in hardware mode and the time it take to get data into the MCU is dependent on whether you use the serial or the parallel interface.  Reading through section 9.3.1.3, you should see that In software mode, you can use an external clock as the conversion clock (CCLK) - it takes up to 20 CCLKs to finish the conversion so that is dependent on the clock speed.  Once you decide on the operation mode and interface, you can figure out the time it takes to finish the conversion and get data into the MCU.
