DAC63001: Using GPIO as GPIO

Part Number: DAC63001
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: DAC63002

Tool/software:

Altough these smart DAC devices have a GPIO pin, i haven't found a way to use it actually as GPIO.

Is there any part that is a 12bit SPI or I2C voltage output DAC with internal reference, and a pin that i can use as digital input, which state can be read over SPI/I2C?

  • Hi Kimmo,

Unfortunately, the GPIO pin on this device can only be used for the predefined function. Are you using the DAC output as a DAC? If you need one DAC channel you could use the DAC63002 and use the other channel configured as a comparator to take in your digital input. The comparator output flag can be read internally so you would know if the GPIO was high or low.

    Best,
