AFE4960: Best solution for respiration. AFE4960 vs ADS1292R

Part Number: AFE4960
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: ADS1294R, ADS1292R,

Tool/software:

Hi

We already have a product with ADS1294R and want to get better performance for respiration. We will develop new version, dont need 4 input but also want better signal on respiration.
We want to reduce artifact effects,
Want to get small chest movements from lungs.

1. We can keep ADS1294R
2. Change with ADS1292R
3. Can use AFE4960

Is respiration measuremetn with bioz make advantage for us.

  • Hello Ferhat,

    Thank you for reaching out.

Between the three devices, the ADS1294R has the lowest respiration impedance measurement noise of 20mΩpp, and should give you the highest performance respiration measurements.

Beyond changing the device, you can improve your respiration performance by either increasing the respiration modulation current, or increasing the gain. The current can be increased by increasing the values of VREF, so long as the total current is limited to less than 100µA. The gain can be increased by increasing the PGA gain on the respiration signal chain.

Additionally, please make sure you are following the recommendations in "Section 10.2.1: ADS129xR Respiration Measurement Using Internal Modulation Circuitry" of the datasheet for best performance of the ADS1294R respiration signal chain.

    Regards,

    Payton
