ads1672 resolution

Other Parts Discussed in Thread: ADS1672, ADS1271, ADS1274

i have been working on ADS1672 for last 2 weeks

The resolution my application needs is 16bit actual

while i am getting 14 - 15 bits from ADS1672

as it is 24 Bit ADC it should give atleast 18 Bit and more.

please confirm whether it is capable to give 16 bit study output on DC input.

  • Hi Manish,

Welcome to the e2e forum!  Can you please pass along some details about your hardware and of how you are making your measurements?  Table 2 on page 14 of the data sheet lists the 'noise-free' bits that you should be able to see using the ADS1672.

  • i have been working with ADS1672 for last 1 month

It is 24 bit ADC but i am getting only 13 to 14 bits stable output

i am working on ads1672 development board with pc interface.

please let me know its actual DC behaviour.

I have been using +5 v developed in MMB0 (motherboard) of ADS1672 KIT

but still didn't get standard and consistent output of >17bits.

Please suggest me unipolar (0 - 5V), programmable gain 24bit ADC.

I have discussed this issue with Texas instrument india, they supported well but

issue could not be resolved so your intervention is now required to solve this issue.

TRY TO RESOLVE IT ON URGENT BASIS

I am very hopeful to your response.

  • Hi Manish,

For your DC input, the ADS1672 has 'noise free' resolution of 16-17 bits depending on the filter configuration.  There are other delta-sigma devices which can give you better noise free resolution, but they will not have the same data rate.  What minimum sample rate does your application need?

  • Required Data rated is atleast  125 Ksps with low latency time .

I want my conversion to be finished within 7-8 micro second  so that i can take atleast 8 sample for

    data manupulation.

Resolution required : 17 bit acutal  so please suggest me which ADC will solve my purpose.

Industrial noise is quite high as signal will travel through long wires.

  • Hi Manish,

The ADS1271 might be an option for you - it is a little slower (only 105KSPS) but it has good DC performance, another option might be the ADS1274.
