ADS8688: Input Range doubt

Part Number: ADS8688

Tool/software:

Hi,

I am currently using ADS8688 (16 bit ADC) for my project. As per the datasheet, the input range can be configured to +/-2.5 x Vref, +/-1.25 x Vref etc because of the internal PGA. So does it mean that the external input can be upto 2.5 x Vref or is the input limited to just 5V(assuming AVDD is 5V), which is then internally amplified to 2.5 x Vref? Is it the input range that is getting configured or is it the reference range ?.

Regards,

Aditya

  • Hi Aditya,

The range options of the ADS8688 is setting the analog input voltage limits, so the +/-2.5 range (assuming Vref = 4.096) is +/-10.24 V.  The reference voltage remains constant, it does not change with range settings.
