Hello TI Teams,

I have been trying to connect to my ADS1278 EM-CVAL board using ADC Pro on my work laptop and am having trouble getting it to work. I am having the same issue as seen here ADS1278EVM Shows EVM/HW Incompatible - Data converters forum - Data converters - TI E2E support forums where when I try to connect the software says download fail..reset the hardware , and then goes to " EVM/HW Incompatible ". I tried the fixes proposed in that thread, and am still receiving the same error.

System Specs: Intel i9, Windows-11 enterprise 64-bit OS, 64GB RAM

Do you have any other solutions to this problem??

Hello Ian,

Welcome to the TI E2E community.

The ADS1278EVM-CVAL requires a unique software plug-in that is different from the commercial version. If you are trying to use the standard ADS1278EVM-PDK-SW software, then this would explain the error message.

As a work-around, you should be able to use the standard software, but you need to make a small change to the following initialization file.

In Windows Explorer, navigate to: C:\Program Files (x86)\ADCPro\plugins\evm\ADS1278 (I'm hoping it's the same directory for the older EVM)
Open adcpro_evm.ini in a text editor.
Change the last line to "EEPROMVerify=FALSE"

Let me know if this does not fix your issue.

Hey Keith,

When I opened adcpro_evm.ini in notepad it was already set to false.

Is it possible I have the wrong plugin? I downloaded it from this thread, and it seemed to be consistent with the user guide. (+) ADS1278EVM-CVAL: USB device driver plugin not found - Data converters forum - Data converters - TI E2E support forums

Hello Ian,

You have the correct plug-in for the ADS1278EVM-CVAL board. Please send pictures of the MMB0 board and the ADS1278EVM board. I want to confirm all jumper and switch settings. There have been instances where the switches were not installed correctly which caused the board to not connect.

Also, since the EVM requires an external 6V power supply, it would be useful to confirm power is reaching the ADS1278EVM board.

Here are the boards I am working with. I took a multimeter and confirmed that power is reaching the ADS1278EVM board as expected.

Hello Ian,

Everything looks correct. Assuming all voltage measurements check out, I think the most likely cause is the driver, specifically the USBstyx. I do not think the plug-in for the -CVAL version of the board had the drivers updated with signed driver signatures (required for Windows 10 and 11), but the commercial version of the EVM was updated. Please install the plug-in for the ADS1278EVM-PDK; this should properly install all drivers. You can find the link here:

Thanks Keith! That allowed me to connect to the EVM! However, when I first connect to the board I get the error pop up described in this thread (+) Error Code 85 on ads1259EVM - Data converters forum - Data converters - TI E2E support forums.

Hello Ian,

Use the ADS1278EVM-CVAL plugin; it should now use the drivers that were installed by the ADS1278 plugin.

I assume you are getting this error because you are using the ADS1278 plugin, and when it checks the configuration file, it does not match. I have not verified this, but the standard ADS1278 plugin should work with your EVM. However, you need to change the initialization file, as I had originally suggested.
