DAC60096: System-Level Debugging of PIC MCU with DAC60096

Part Number: DAC60096

Tool/software:

Hi
I am working on a design where a PIC microcontroller(PIC18F26K40T-I/MV)  interfaces with the TI DAC60096 (96-channel, 16-bit DAC). I want to perform system-level debugging to validate both the SPI communication and the analog output behavior before moving to hardware. Could anyone suggest detailed approaches, tools, or workflows for debugging this setup using simulators or emulators (e.g., Proteus, PICSimLab, MPLAB X debugger, or any open-source alternatives)?

  • Suriya,

We do not have any coding examples for that device.  It does have a very simple SPI interface, so I generally recommend starting by creating a few simple command to configure the DAC for mid-scale operation.  A voltage measurement is sufficient to confirm that the communication was successful.  This would still require physical hardware for testing.  Generally we do not make simulator for our DAC products.

    Thanks,

    Paul
