I’m looking for a standalone hardware solution that can convert the ADS1115’s I²C interface into UART, without relying on a microcontroller or any embedded programming. Could you please suggest a suitable approach or component for this application?

Welcome to the Texas Instruments E2E forum!

The current solution would be through a software implementation such as the one described in the UART to I2C Bridge subsystem design.

However, since you are looking for UART communication the ADS112U04 might be another option if you are looking to communicate in UART without additional programming.

My exact requirement is to measure voltage from a fuel sensor and continously transmit the measured data through the UART port

do you have any refferance schematic for that requiremnt?

i am sending 5VDC to the fuel sensor and measuring voltages from 0VDC to 5VDC

Hello Suwin,

I wasn't able to find an exact reference design for your use case.

However, with the system you are designing the ADS112U04EVM would be a good place to start the development. The Evaluation Module will allow you to test the 0-5V input and has an example input filtering scheme with could be replicated on your system. When implementing ADS112U04 has a PGA bypass and external voltage reference pins which could be tied to AVDD and AVSS to measure to the two supply rails.

Which simplified diagram should i follow in this case in the ADS112U04EVM documentation??

and do i have to adjust anything to transmit continously through the UART??

Hi Suwin,

I would recommend purchasing the EVM to evaluate your system. I have attached Table 10 from the EVM users guide which explains how to set up the the EVM for different sensor inputs. This would be the best way to understand the use of the device.

To transmit continuously I would recommend using continuous conversion mode combined with the auto data read mode. . In automatic data read mode, the ADS112U04 automatically outputs conversion data on the TX pin as soon as a conversion completes.
