ADS8028: Linux Driver

Part Number: ADS8028

Tool/software:

Hi team,

My customer is looking for a Linux driver for the ADS8028. Do you have any guidance on if a Linux driver is available or in the works?

If not, what are the recommended alternative paths? This customer is looking to configure the SPI interface, sets up ADC channels, and read data from the ADS8028. Maybe we have test code you are able to share?

Best,

Brian Wang

  • Hi Brian,

Up until this point, we have not developed any first-party or official Linux drivers. We are looking into new developments, but have not discussed it for this device.

We are also light on example code unfortunately. At this time, we can support more direct support on questions regarding the digital interface. New developments will be much harder to support currently.

This area is a very clear gap for us, which we are working on fixing, but cannot provide further commitments beyond that

    Regards,
    Joel

  • Hi Joel,

Thank you for the reply. So for customer evaluation what is typically recommended? Obviously we can recommend the EVM for non-Linux and standalone device evaluation (and I will check if this is acceptable for the customer), but for in-system testing what is typical?

(Forgive me for the basic question as typically I do not support Data Converters business so this is new territory for me)

    Best,

    Brian Wang

  • Hi Brian,

Maybe we should take this internally. Feel free to send me an email to discuss.

    Regards,
    Joel
