AFE5818EVM: Signal configurations, delete circuitly about CW-mode

Part Number: AFE5818EVM
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: AFE5818, , LMK04826

Tool/software:

Dear support,

I would like to ask some questions.
Regarding "E.2 AFE5818 EVM Schematic" of AFE5818EVM_UM.pdf.

1. What are Y1(125MHz) and Y2(100MHzVCO for PLL?) use for?
2. How/Where connect these oscillator/clock to which output within U11(LMK04826)?
3. What configuration each output of U11(LMK04826 has programmable output format, LVDS, LVPECL, and so on)?
    Outputs being connected : DCLKOUT0, ~, DCLKOUT6, DCLKOUT8
4. I use the EVM in TGC mode then CW mode/function is all OFF, right?
What parts/circuitly can be deleted? (For remake new board)
Pleaes see attached file "Question about CW of AFE5818_TI support.pdf".

  • Could anyone help me?
    Kamada

  • Hi Kamada,

    1. Y1 can be used to provide reference clock for PLL1 in LMK device and Y2 is used to provide feedback for the first PLL and acts as reference clock of PLL2 in LMK device.      Please refer to LMK04826 datasheet for block diagrams and application diagram.

    2. Y1 can be connected to Pin 34 of LMK by shorting Pin 1 and Pin 2 of J31. Output of Y2 is already going to Pin 44 (OSCINn).

    3. Each output of U11 is LVDS output format

    4. Yes. If TGC mode is enabled then CW mode is off.

    5. No changes should be made on LMK0482x page of EVM schematic. No components should be deleted on this page.

Rest components related to CW can be removed. That looks okay.
