ADC3683EVM: adc36XXevm User's Guide and the differen with ADC3683EVM

Part Number: ADC3683EVM
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: ADC3683, THS4541

Tool/software:

we purchased the product ADC3683EVM

we received the adc36XXevm

as the adc36XXevm   User's Guide  and Design Files  are not public

we cann't use

please hlep me

pictures see the attached

could you give me the adc36XXevm  User's Guide  and Design Files ,

by the way, the differen with ADC3683EVM

  • Hi Meng,

Which data capture board do you have to connect with the ADC3683EVM shown in the picture.

    Regards,

    Rob

  • KintexTm UltraScaleTm FPGA KCU105
  • Ok, thank you Meng, I will send over the updated user guide and EVM files later today.

    Regards,

    Rob

  • Hi Meng,

Here is the updated user guide:

This covers all the ADC36xx devices, it just hasn't been posted on all the EVM device pages currently.

On the design files please see the link and access code.

    ADC36xxEVMRevG Problem Description

    1. Connect the power and USB-C

    2.Open ADC36xx_LVDS_EVM

    Detail:Traceback (most recent call last):
File "main.py", line 288, in run

ValueError: FX3 bootloader not found. Try resetting hardware.

    3.Detected by the PC

May I ask if this is a problem with the FX3 USB Driver? If so, could you provide me
with the FX3 USB Driver? Because I can't properly download the FX3 USB Driver?

    4.Does  the  software (GUI -SBAC271 — ADC36xx-LVDS-EVM-GUI ) match the   adc36XXevm

  • Hi Meng,

Yes, this is likely an issue with the FX3 USB driver. It looks like the drivers were not installed. It shouldve been installed when you installed the ADC36xxEVM GUI. A second install window will pop up during installation to install the drivers, and you must install the drivers when this window pops up. Please uninstall the GUI and rerun the installer to install the drivers.

If this still doesnt work, you may have to select the correct driver to use in the device manager by doing the following:

    1. Right click on the device and click on update driver.

    2. Click on "Browse my computer for drivers"

    3. Click on "Let me pick from a list of available drivers on my computer"

    4. Select the "Texas Instrumetns Sparrow Device" and click next to install

    This should fix the issue.

  • 1. Development board I want to purchase:

    2. Content obtained from the ADC368xEVM Evaluation Module User’s Guide: Can achieve DC coupling with the onboard FDA

    3. Relevant schematic diagram:

    4. Content obtained from the ADC3683 datasheet (regarding DC coupling)

    5. The received development board:

     adc36XXevm

    ...

    6.schematic:

I need to implement DC coupling, but the development board I received does not have an FDA, and the User's Guide does not include any relevant information about DC coupling. Is there any way to solve this?

  • Hi Meng,

You can bypass the balun on the EVM by removing C65, C59, C60, and C64 and populating C65, C58, R75, and R84 with 0Ω. This allows you to provide a differential signal to the ADC using CHAp and CHAn SMA connectors. You can then connect the FDA EVM of your choice to evaluate the ADC and FDA in a DC coupled configuration.

  • Hi Meng,

Once you order the amplifier EVM, we can walk you thru any questions you might have on the interface.

I will close this post for now.

Start a new thread when you are ready, concerning the amplifier interface.

    Thanks,

    Rob

  • we purchased the product ADC3683EVM

    we received the adc36XXevm

we only need ADC3683EVM ,TI sent the wrong products,we need to  replace it

Content obtained from the ADC368xEVM Evaluation Module User’s Guide: Can
achieve DC coupling with the onboard FDA,We need to testing this function.

If adc36XXevm can't meet ,we need  to replace   adc36XXevm .

  • Hi Meng,

Unfortunately, the previous rev of the board is obsoleted.

The TI website was just slow to updating the new EVM, user guide, etc with the new EVM materials.

Best to make the modifications on the EVM as Luke described above and purchase or sample the THS4541EVM or similar to enable DC coupling.

    Regards,

    Rob

  • Hi Meng,

You were not sent the wrong product. You can see below the device that is populated on the EVM is indicated with a resistor. We recently updated the EVMs for the ADC36xx devices, and we have removed the amplifier from the new board. We have updated the user's guide as well, you must haveve downloaded the users guide before it was updated.

If you would like to DC couple the ADC368x, you can follow my previous advice.

    Best,

    Luke Allen

  • The update to your user‘’s guide after I raised the issue,

    the picture and Feature

    • AC-coupled analog input with onboard balun or DC-coupled option with THS4541

The product does not meet the specifications for your shipment,

TI did not inform the customers before shipment,TI    should be held responsible for this

  • Please reach out to the customer service team, not on E2E and explain the situation and ask for a refund. We are not in control of this. At this time we do not ship out the older hardware due to support limitations on our end. If you have any other technical questions please feel free to let us know.
