ADS7056: Regarding the Tjmax and Topr temperature ranges

Part Number: ADS7056
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: ADS7046,

Tool/software:

Dear TI Product Engineers,

The data sheet for the ADS7056 does not specify the junction temperature.

Please let me know the respective temperature ranges.
Or please include them in the data sheet.

  • Hi Junji,

Apologies for getting to this late. Below applies to both ADS7056 and ADS7046.

Tjmax is assumed to be at the maximum ambient temperature, with maximum power dissipation. As the max operating ambient temperature is specified at 125°C, we can use the maximum power dissipation and thermal resistance to determine the Tjmax.

We can obtain power dissipation from the max voltage and max current consumption. Max operating voltage is 3.6V. Conservatively, let's put total current consumption at 3mA. This equates to 10.8mW of power dissipation.

Junction to ambient thermal resistance is 177.5 °C/W, so a power dissipation of 10.8mW equates to an increase of 1.917°C. Therefore, Tjmax is 126.917°C.

    Joel
