ADS131M04: Transitioning between power modes

Part Number: ADS131M04

My customer plans to run in high-resolution mode, however would like to be able to transition to very-low-power mode during certain periods of time. Is below the proper sequence to transition modes? How much data will be lost during the transition?

  1. Change clock from 8MHz to 2Mhz
  2. Toggle SYNC/RESET low then high to reset device
  3. Fast startup data is available Tpor + 1024 tMOD cycles
  4. Program registers for very-low-power-mode (can occur anytime after reset)
  • Hi Matt,

resetting the device should not be required. However, before changing the clock frequency or the power mode, you should put the device into STANDBY mode.
    My proposed sequence would be:

    1. Send STANDBY command
    2. Change clock frequency from 8MHz to 2MHz
    3. Change power mode from high-resolution mode to very-low-power mode
    4. Send the WAKEUP command

When going from very-low-power mode to high-resolution mode, I would swap 2) and 3) to be safe, but it might not be necessary.
