ADS9810: Technical Difference between different ADS98 series parts

Part Number: ADS9810
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: ADS9803, , ADS9811, ADS9813

Hi TI Team,

We want to use a digitally adjustable input SAR ADC in the data acquisition system to read the data from the PZT sensor. Below is the high-level block diagram for the system.

While exploring, we found four ADC parts that are almost similar in specifications that can meet our requirements and eliminate most blocks from the AFE from the above block diagram.

We have a few queries as listed below:

  1. What are the specific differences between ADS9810, ADS9811, ADS9813, and ADS9803 apart from the resolution and data rate? There is a significant price difference in all parts.
  2. If we plan to go with any of the above four ADCs (mostly ADS9810), which blocks from the AFE (from the above block diagram) can be eliminated since all of them have an inbuilt AFE and PGA?
  3. Since it has an inbuilt AFE and PGA, can we connect the PZT sensor output directly to the ADC input (skipping the unity gain buffer)? Generally, the unity gain buffer is kept external to provide low output impedance to the anti-aliasing filter. Will this need be satisfied internally by ADS9810? If yes, we can eliminate the external unity gain buffer.

Thanks & Regards,
