ADS131E08: Daisy Chaining

Hello,

I am currently looking for a device that can measure multiple differential channels for measurement of Rsense current measurements. Due to the large number of channels we require, we are looking for a device that we can daisy chain the measurements.

I have found the ADS131E08 and this looks great. I have seen on the forums that there is possiblility to daisy chain these devices, but I cannot find mention of this in the datasheet.

Please could I be directed to some documentation for the mechanism of how to daisy chain the devices?

Also, any information on limit of how many devices can be daisy chained (and max amount of channels) would be great. If there are caveats to this (bit rate, clock speed, etc), please could you provide examples?

Could you also answer whether we can daisy chain Evaluation Boards (ADS131E08V2EVM)?

    If you look at ADS131E08 datasheet, the section of 10.1.3.3 Daisy-chain configuration shows all information you need. See the screenshot below:

    The more devices in the chain, the more challenging adhering to setup and hold times becomes, the same section in the datasheet introduces a simple way/equation to determine the maximum number of devices that can be daisy-chained together according to the data rate and SCLK frequency.

    Yes, you can use multiple ADS131E08V2EVMs to check for test purpose, but the EVM GUI software does not support that, you can use your own microcontroller and code to communicate with the EVMs.
