ADS1246: SPI Communication

Customer would like to employ 2pcs of the ADS1246 for thermal coupler measurements with SPI.

Is there ref. design with SPI for >2 devices? Thanks.

    Hi Brian,

    we don't really have a reference design that I am aware of that shows how to operate multiple ADS1246 on a single SPI bus.
    In principle all you need is one dedicated CSn signal per ADS1246. The SCLK, DIN, and DOUT signals can all be shared.
    If you search for "ADS1248" you find multiple discussions in the forum around using multiple devices on a single SPI bus.

    You need to think through a strategy how to detect conversions are ready.
    In case you need all ADS1246 to convert simultaneously, then you also need to think through how to accomplish that.

    Our latest device, ADS122S14, also offers SPI daisy-chain capability.
    The following reference design shows how two ADS122S14 can be used in a SPI daisy-chain or with individual CSn signals.
