Part Number: DAC71416
Hi,
is the output noise of the DACx1416 devices limited by the integrated output buffer or by the internal voltage reference. Would an external low noise reference improve the noise performance?
Thanks
Hans

Hi Hans,
The DAC output noise is specified assuming a "noiseless" external reference. So assuming that you have identified a lower noise reference than the internal reference, then you will have better noise performance. The DAC output noise is dominated by the output amplifier and the companion resistors in the feedback that contribute thermal noise. This noise is uncorrelated with the reference noise and you would expect to an additive effected between these non-correlated noise sources.
Thanks,
Paul
