DAC80502: DAC output under improper configuration

The DS says:

Improper configuration of the reference divider triggers a reference alarm condition. In this case, the reference buffer is shut down, and all the DAC outputs go to 0 V. 

So, this means it won't obey the configuration of 'RSTSEL' pin in this case? Right?

    Your comment is correct. If the reference divider is improperly configured, the output will not go to the configuration of the RSTSEL pin. 

    One way to think about it is that as an alarm condition the reference buffer is shut down and goes to 0V. That would mean that even if the DAC code is at midscale, the output would still be 0V.

  • Thanks for your confirmation. Though I think this may be not *safe* in some situation. IMHO, it should obey the setting of 'RSTSEL' pin Slight smile.
