Damaged problem with ADS1230

Other Parts Discussed in Thread: ADS1230

I used ADS1230 and atmega88 as uC . The system have been produced  since 1 year ago.

Recently we had lots of failed systems which  had damaged ADS1230.

I thought about ESD from sensor side then put TVS on all lines which come from sensor but still I have the problem.

Anybody has any idea?

Thanks

  • Reza,

Welcome to the forum!  An ESD event can be the problem.  One overlooked area is the AGND/DGND connection.  It is vital that the connection between the grounds be low impedance.  If you have connected any inductance between the two pins either by intention, or by accident when using traces back to the power source, the part can be easily damaged by an ESD/EMI/RFI event.  There can only be 0.3V maximum difference between the two grounds.  It is best to connect the grounds together at or very near the device.

If you send me your schematic and layout I would be happy to review them and offer any suggestions.

    Best regards,

  • Bob,

    it makes sense!

I could not add the layout file because file type error! Just schematic has been attached.

I would sent it if I had your email address.I am waiting for your recommendation and appreciate it.

  • Reza,

The file didn't get attached.  If you click on my avatar icon you will be directed to my page where you can open a direct discussion with me.  It may be easier to attach files using this method.

    Best regards,
