ADS112S14: Difference between "Specified ambient temperature" and "Operating ambient temperature"

Hi All,


I have a question about the ADS112S14.
Please explain the difference between "Specified ambient temperature" and "Operating ambient temperature" as listed in the datasheet.

Is my understanding below correct?

Operating ambient temperature is the temperature range where the device will not break down.

Specified ambient temperature is the temperature range where electrical characteristics can be guaranteed.

    Hi Ishiwata-san,

    your understanding is correct. The ADS112S14 is functional and starts-up across the "operating temperature range", but may not meet all specifications in the "Electrical Characteristics" table.

    The specifications of the "Electrical Characteristics" are only met across the "specified temperature range".

    The reason we have those different temperature ranges is, because a lot of customers ask us if the device would start-up at -50°C. However those customers don't need the performance guaranteed at those cold temperatures, because the equipment would heat up after it is powered.
