DAC70501: USING DAC70501 DAC 'WITH INTERNAL VREFx2

Part Number: DAC70501

Hi,

I intend powering the DAC70501 DAC with VDD=5V +/-5%, but want to use the internal 2.5V reference in a VREFx2 configuration. This means the theoretical VREFx2 may exceed VDD.

Assuming i will avoid writing the codes beyond 75% of the full scale anyway, will the device operate correctly and stay within its spec despite that VREFx2 is slightly higher than VDD?

Thanx,

ELi.

  • Hi Eli,

Yes, this will work fine. Functionally, you will need to use the VREF x 1 setting and the output buffer GAIN x 2 setting. The VREF will stay stable with your VDD range, and if you only use 75% of the full scale range you wont see any output buffer clipping issues.

    Thanks,
    Erin
