ADS1235: Maximum data rate, conversion latency in pulse conversion mode

We'd like to synchronize the conversion of the ADS1235 with the start signal (input pin) in pulse conversion mode, for a single channel.
Are the conversion latency values (Table 6. in datasheet) applicable after every start pulse, effectively limiting sample rate? Or is a close to maximum data rate achievable when selecting sinc1 filtering, no chop, no ac excitation? How to determine the maximum data rate?
