ADS1261: Clarification on ADS1261 Pin Connections (AINCOM & DRDY)

Part Number: ADS1261

Hi Team,

We are using the ADS1261 in our design, where a single-ended input signal ranging from –2.5V to +2.5V is applied to the ADC input.

We have the following questions:

  • How should the AINCOM pin be connected in this configuration?
  • Since we are not using the DRDY pin, can it be safely left unconnected?

Could you please provide guidance on these points?

    Answers to your questions:

    • The AINCOM pin can be treated like any other analog input
    • Yes, you do not need the DRDY pin. If you are using single-shot mode you can just wait the conversion latency + some margin to clock out data. If you are using continuous conversion mode then you will need to use the combined DOUT/DRDY pin to determine when new data are available. Note that the CS pin must be low for the DRDY function to work on the combined DOUT/DRDY pin

Note that the ADS1261 cannot directly support a single-ended input of +/-2.5V using a unipolar supply. If you are using a bipolar supply e.g. +/-2.5V, then this should be okay
