ADS1278: Power sequence violation ramifications on ADS1278

Part Number: ADS1278

Hello,

I am using the ADS1278 on a design. Because of other things going on in the design, I have to power on IOVDD last. It will be DVDD, then AVDD, then IOVDD, which is a violation of the recommended power sequence in the datasheet. The datasheet recommends a power sequence, but doesn't say what happens if you don't follow it. What are the potential consequences of an out-of-order power sequence?

Thanks,

Lucy

  • Hi Lucy,

Not following the recommended power-sequence may temporarily result in a higher than specified supply current during power-up and an incorrect reset, but it will not damage the device.  After all supplies have stabilized to within recommended operating range, assert the /SYNC pin to force a reset.

Please refer to the following application note that discusses this in more detail.
