ADS1299: ADS1299 Channel Yield / ESD / Failure Analysis

Hi,

Our system contains up to x32 ADS1299 for EEG.

We are encountering issues with channel yield and possible ESD related issues.

Could we please receive some support on these issues?

Can TI please help us with Failure analysis at a PCB level?

Hi Llyr,

For FA requests, you would have to contact customer support or work through your local TI sales team.

Can you provide more details about the observed behavior? What debug steps have you already taken? Have you seen the following FAQ page on E2E?

Hi Ryan,

When a failure occurs data is provided but the channels become unwieldy or very noisy.

So we are happy we are still communicating with the IC and receiving data.

We have always struggled getting support from customer support or local TI sales team.

Hi Llyr,

Thanks. When they behavior occurs, can you configure the affected channels to measure the internal square wave test signal? Does resetting or power cycling the device recover expected performance?

Hi Ryan,

We are able to set all 256CH to provide internal square waves and you can see here the outcome for good vs bad channels.

Power cycling does not seem to have an impact.

Hi Llyr,

Thanks. For FA requests, you would still need to call TI customer support: Customer Support Platform. I can still work with you to understand the issue and help debug, but I think working with Customer Support in parallel would be helpful in case it is truly a device failure and not an application issue.
