Part Number: DAC5687-EP
Hello TI Team,
I am looking for a suitable 16-bit DAC for characterising a 14-bit ADC. My application requirements are as follows:
-
Output range: 0–2.8 V, single-ended.
-
Resolution: 16 bits.
-
Required SNR: At least 84 dB.
-
Output waveform: output Pulse voltage waveforms at 7.5–10 MHz.
-
Rise time: Less than 30 ns.
-
Fall time: Less than 50 ns.
-
ADC sampling rates: 30 MHz, 20 MHz and 65 MHz; please consider 20 MHz as the worst case.
-
ADC performance: SFDR of 96 dBc at a 10 MHz input frequency.
I would appreciate your guidance on the following:
-
Which TI DAC would be most suitable for these requirements?
-
Should I use an internal or external voltage reference to achieve the required output range, SNR and stability?
-
Which DAC parameters should I prioritise, including update rate, settling time, slew rate, SNR, SFDR and output drive capability?
-
Is any output protection or conditioning circuit required, or can I evaluate the DAC directly on a breadboard or bench setup?
-
Can the recommended DAC generate the required 7.5–10 MHz pulse waveforms with the specified rise and fall times while supporting accurate ADC characterisation?
Please recommend a suitable part number and reference design, if available. If additional information about the ADC or test setup is required, I can provide it.
Thank you for your support.
Best regards
